Ciqikou Ancient Town

Ciqikou Ancient Town (English name: Ciqikou Ancient Town), formerly known as Baiyanchang, also known as Long Yin Town, is located in the northeast of Shapingba District, Chongqing, at No.1, Cinan Street on the Jialing River. It is 5 kilometers away from Shapingba center in the north, 14 kilometers away from Chongqing center and 3 kilometers away from Shijingpo in the south [5]. The total area of the ancient town is 325,000 square meters, and the core area of the scenic spot is distributed in the east and southeast of Maanshan, with 143,000 square meters [5].

Ciqikou ancient town, founded in the Xianping period of Song Zhenzong [17], developed rapidly in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China [6]; After 1958, with the gradual depression of water transportation, the ancient town gradually declined [17]; At the end of the 20th century, relying on the tourism trend of ancient towns, ciqikou ancient town developed again [17]. It is the only ancient town with the largest scale and the most traditional folk houses, folk customs and folk customs in Chongqing [5] [7]. The traditional residential buildings, stone stairs, streets and alleys, and temples and palaces in ancient towns are natural museums of residential buildings in Bayu Mountain [5].

Ciqikou ancient town is built on the mountain, and the city starts from the mountain. With Ciqikou main street and cross street as the skeleton, 42 roadways develop in a dendritic manner perpendicular to the main street and cross street to the edge of Maanshan ridge and gully, forming a dendritic plane pattern with obvious characteristics [5]. The main scenic spots in the ancient town are Hanlin Academy, Zhongjiayuan, Baoshan Palace, Baolun Temple and Huangjueping Archway. In November 2006, ciqikou ancient town was rated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction [7]. On November 18th, 2020, ciqikou ancient town was elected as "Chengdu-Chongqing Top Ten Cultural Tourism Industry Landmark" [10]. On January 10th, 2022, Ciqikou block was selected as "the first batch of national tourist and leisure blocks" [2]. On August 23rd, ciqikou ancient town Scenic Spot was selected as a typical case of Chongqing Smart Tourism Scenic Spot [3]. In September, ciqikou ancient town was selected as a national "non-legacy tourist attraction" [4].

In May, 2023, Ciqikou block was listed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as one of the 10 national tourist routes with the theme of the Yangtze River, which is part of the Yangtze River Urban Leisure Tour.
