Chongqing baolun temple tourist attractions
Baolun Temple, located at No.76 Ciqikou Street, with a total area of 9046.13 square meters. The south, north and west sides are bounded by the cliff line at the top of the mountain and the street boundary on the left side of Ciheng Street in the east. The whole temple is a double-eaves, mountain-resting building with a wooden frame structure. It is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Chongqing. There are buildings such as Baolun Temple Hall, Guanyin Pagoda and Baolun Temple Mansion. The plaque under the front eaves of the hall reads "Daxiong Hall", which was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the late chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association and honorary chairman of the China Calligraphers Association [5]. Legend has it that during the Jianwen period of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yunwen, Emperor Jianwen, took refuge in Ciqikou, where he had been hiding for several years, hence the name of Longyin Temple [5] [6]. During the reign of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, Baolun Temple was renovated, and its scale was expanded, far exceeding that of the Ming Dynasty. In the Republic of China, except for the main hall, the only remaining temples and meditation rooms were bombed by Japanese planes. During the "Cultural Revolution", some remaining Buddha statues and tablets were damaged. Despite many disasters, the main hall building and the main Buddha siddhattha gotama were preserved. In 1983, the Chongqing government allocated special funds for renovation, and then moved the primary schools and construction companies in the temple.
