Since November 17, 2023, China has implemented a 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy for Norwegian citizens. So far, the scope of China's 72/144-hour transit visa-free policy has increased to 54 countries.

At present, three cities in China, including Changsha, Harbin and Guilin, have implemented the 72-hour visa-free transit policy, and 20 cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jieyang, Shenyang, Dalian, Qingdao, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi 'an, Xiamen, Wuhan and Kunming, have implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit policy. Citizens of 54 countries can stay in the specified area for no more than 72 hours or 144 hours without a visa when transiting the above cities for a third country (region) with valid international travel documents and joint tickets with fixed dates and seats within a limited time. During their stay, they can engage in short-term activities such as tourism and temporary business visits.

According to the relevant person in charge of the National Immigration Bureau, the implementation of the visa-free transit policy is a practical measure to ensure the country's high-level opening to the outside world, facilitate the exchange of Chinese and foreign personnel, and promote foreign exchanges and cooperation. Since China implemented the visa-free 72/144-hour transit policy in January 2013, more than 500,000 foreigners have enjoyed the convenience of this policy. In the next step, the National Immigration Bureau will continue to focus on the new situation and new requirements of China's high-level opening up, actively benchmark the international high-level economic and trade rules, continuously deepen the reform and innovation of immigration entry and exit policies, actively respond to the new expectations and new demands of Chinese and foreign entry and exit personnel and international economic and trade exchanges, promote economic globalization, and help China's open development, innovative development and high-quality development.
