144-hour transit visa-free

Since November 17, 2023, in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province, the visa-free transit policy has been implemented for foreigners from 54 countries, including Austria, who hold valid international travel documents and set a date and seat for a third country (region) within 144 hours.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security, foreigners applying for the 144-hour transit visa-free policy shall meet the following conditions:

1. Citizens of countries that meet the prescribed scope (currently including 54 countries) and hold valid international travel documents that can prove their nationality and identity;

2. Holding a joint ticket (including air tickets, boat tickets and train tickets) to a third country or region with a confirmed date and seat within 144 hours or relevant certificates;

3. Choose to enter or leave from any of Tianjin Binhai International Airport Port, Tianjin International Cruise Home Port, Beijing Daxing International Airport Port, Beijing Capital International Airport Port, Beijing Railway West Railway Station Port, Hebei Shijiazhuang International Airport Port, and Hebei Qinhuangdao Harbor Port, and stay in Beijing, Tianjin and the administrative areas of Hebei Province.

The border police at the ports of Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Railway West Railway Station will issue temporary entry permits to the applicants who meet the above-mentioned visa-free conditions, and grant them entry according to regulations.

Tips:

1.144-hour transit visa-free foreign passengers shall stay in China for no more than 144 hours allowed for visa-free stay, and in the administrative areas of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. If they overstay or exceed the stay scope, they will be dealt with according to relevant regulations.

2. Foreign tourists staying in China, regardless of hotels or other residences other than hotels (including buying houses, renting houses, borrowing houses, etc.), must go through accommodation registration according to law. If a foreign passenger stays in a hotel in China, the hotel shall handle the accommodation registration. If a foreign passenger stays in a residence other than a hotel, he or she must register with the public security organ of the place of residence within 24 hours after staying. If you change your residence during your stay, you need to re-register with the public security organ of your new residence.

There are 25 countries with Schengen visa agreements in Europe: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Norway.

15 other European countries: Russia, Britain, Ireland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Monaco and Belarus.

Six American countries: the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

2 countries in Oceania: Australia and New Zealand.

Six Asian countries: Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar.
